The rising cost of crude oil has pushed gasoline prices higher across the nation and in Pennsylvania.
The national average as of this morning, according to Triple A is $3.43 a gallon, which is an increase of seven cents from last week and fourteen cents over the last month. Experts say that crude oil prices have been on the increase. As of this week, crude oil prices are now at $90.27. The increase is being caused by the tension along the Russian-Ukraine border. Russia is a member of OPEC+ and Russia could withhold crude oil from the market if they are sanctioned. Also, OPEC+ has said that it will stick with its plan to increase production by only 400,000 barrels a day instead of increasing it more to meet global demand.
Pennsylvania’s statewide average is now $3.60 a gallon as of this morning. That is also a seven-cent increase from last week and an eight cent increase from last month. Indiana County is just under the statewide average at $3.58 a gallon, tying it with Cambria County for highest average in the region. Jefferson, Clearfield and Westmoreland Counties are reporting $3.55 a gallon averages, while Armstrong County’s average is $3.54 a gallon.
Gas prices in Indiana Borough, Clymer Borough and White Township this morning are $3.59 a gallon on average, while Homer City and Blairsville prices range from $3.55 to $3.59 a gallon. Shelocta gas prices are lower at $3.53 a gallon, according to Gasbuddy.com.
